Teckel Interview: Hubert & Thylia

Welcome to our Dachshund Interviews section, where we give a voice to those who live every day with these small dogs with big personalities.
Today, we meet Hubert and his smooth-haired dachshund Thylia, who share their life in Cannes with us—a sincere love story that proves a dachshund can sometimes change a life.

Can you introduce yourself and Thilya: her name, her dachshund size, her coat type, and tell us in a few words what she is like on a daily basis?

Thilya is a miniature smooth-haired dachshund, black and tan in color. She is an extremely affectionate, very intelligent, and athletic dog.

How did Thilya come into your life and why a dachshund?

The adoption of a dog was my ex's idea. I finally gave in after three years. I got hooked on looking at ads, and her puppy photo melted my heart.

I grew up on a farm with lots of horses, dogs, cats, chickens... To me, adopting an animal means knowing how to dedicate time and love to it.

The dachshund, because it's a fairly rare type of dog: compact, but with the personality of a big dog!

Based on her coat: what do you think makes her personality unique compared to other dogs?

I don't know if the coat type really influences personality, but Thilya has plenty of it. She knows how to get what she wants with her eyes, or even with little noises. She is very obedient, but also very stubborn.

How does Thilya accompany you in your daily life, whether at work or otherwise?

We live together.

From morning to night, she hardly ever leaves my side: at the office, playing golf, at the restaurant, on vacation... Everywhere I go, she is there. I even skip going to certain places if she can't come with me.

What is your favorite memory or a significant moment experienced with your dachshund?

My best memory isn't just one moment, but the life she offers me by her side every day. This love is indescribable.

One significant event, however, is that I met my new partner thanks to Thilya's Instagram account. She messaged me, we started talking, then organized a first date with Thilya, and our relationship began like that.

For me, it is fundamental that the person who shares my life understands the relationship I have with my dog.

If you had to describe your relationship with your dachshund in one sentence, what would it be?

My life has been filled with love since I started sharing it with Thilya.
